Experience Caraga! Explore Sohoton Cove in Surigao City, Philippines Do you want to enjoy a day of full island life experience? You can enjoy it from the hustles and bustles of urban life and enjoy a wide array of sightseeing, swimming, snorkeling, island hopping, boating, caving, adventure diving, jellyfish mingling activities in the most renowned Sohoton Cove in Caraga,which is approximately 40-meter entrance to the 60-hectare secluded place on the southeastern coast of Bucas Grande Island, Socorro, Surigao del Norte, Philippines. You can go whether you are in a group or a solo backpacker traveler. There are many other route ways where you can get there, but for my experience, I recommend the best possible route you can have in a short time. Well, of course, if you are from outside in Caraga you can take it by Air through Philippine Airlines or Cebu Pacific which fly daily between Manila and Butuan. And take a bus from Butuan Terminal bound for Surigao to Hayanggabon Port. From Surigao, get off at Bad-as junction. The fare is Php 180 or $4, travel time is 2 hours. From Bad-as junction, transfer to a van en route to Hayanggabon via Claver. The fare is Php 90 or $2, travel time is less than an hour. Best time to arrive at least 6:00 AM for a prompt departure at 6:30 AM depending on the agreed scheduled time for pick up. Hayanggabon Port is the main point going to Bucas Grande and Sohoton Cove Tour. From there, take directly to a boat it can accommodate up to 30 persons to the Sohoton Bay Resort within the vicinity of the island going to Sohoton Tourist Assistance Center for Registration and Orientation. You can have island hopping destinations to include like Hagukan Cave, Magkukuob Cave, Jellyfish Sanctuary, Lagoon, Crystal and Bolitas Caves; these are just a few places among other destinations that you like to visit. So heads up, after the registration, you will be transferred to a small pump boat, and while passing through the entrance of the cove, you have to bow down because the doorway almost beneath on the surface of the water, the ceiling can be just 1.5 to 2 feet above the water. While inside the cove, you can explore and admire the sight of the group of islets where you can stay there for long hours if you have much time to explore other islets and be amazed alongside azure waterways enjoying its unique charm, ablaze with the spectacular scenery and rolled your eyes to see the big rock formations. You can experience swimming at the luminous bluish crystal clear waters inside the Hagukan (Snoring) Cave and feel the breathe-taking yet fulfilling cliff jumping at the Magkukuob (Bending) cave. Experience the non-stinging jellyfish whose stings are too mild to feel and mingle with the spotted jelly. In Crystal and Bolitas caves, you can see the natural stalagmites and stalactites formations. Bolitas caves have a 16-meter long from the entrance, in order for you to get inside you would have to crawl because the ceiling is too low, not recommended for the claustrophobic person. To stay overnight, I recommend Cinnamon Island, they have 3 spacious native cottages with a scenic view of Sohoton Bay, it can accommodate 5 persons in a room with air-conditioning and comfort room and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Sohoton Cave is a tourist destination worthy of a natural beauty, a place where you can rejuvenate and commune with nature that offers a rustic ambiance and refreshing scenery, a perfect venue for an isla
